An act
relating to crime; providing for classified employees of the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Commission;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 244.09, subdivision 10.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
The commission may select and employ a research director who shall perform the duties the commission directs, including the hiring of any clerical help and other employees as the commission shall approve. Thenew text end compensation new text begin of the research director and other staff new text end shall be established pursuant to chapter 43A. They shall be reimbursed for the expenses necessarily incurred in the performance of their official duties in the same manner as other state employees.

new text begin On and after the effective date of this section, all positions of employment with the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Commission in the unclassified service of the state, except for the research director, shall be placed in the classified service without loss of compensation or seniority. A person employed as of the effective date of this section in a position placed in the classified service under this section shall not be required to complete a probationary period if the employee was employed in the same position on January 1, 2022. new text end
