relating to public safety; requiring a modification to the sex offender sentencing grid.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin Notwithstanding the modification procedures described in Minnesota Statutes, section 244.09, subdivision 11, and Minnesota Rules, chapter 3000, the Sentencing Guidelines Commission, acting without a public hearing, shall modify the sex offender sentencing grid to ensure that it provides for an increase of not greater than 20 percent and a decrease of not greater than 15 percent in the presumptive fixed sentence. The modified grid shall be effective immediately upon issuance by the commission. new text end
