An act

relating to local government; authorizing municipalities to make grants to emergency medical services agencies;

amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 465.037.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 465.037, is amended to read:

465.037 GIFTS TO HOSPITALS new text begin AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES AGENCIES new text end .

A home rule charter or statutory city or town may make grants for the use of a private, nonprofit, or public hospital that serves the city or town deleted text begin when deleted text end new text begin , or to an emergency medical services agency as defined in section 144.7401, that serves the city or town. The grants must be new text end authorized by the council in the case of a city and the town board in the case of a town upon the affirmative vote of the town electors at the annual or a special town meeting.
