Laws of Minnesota 1991 CHAPTER 32-H.F.No. 131 An act relating to Meeker county; authorizing the county board to provide for an addition to the county hospital. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: Section 1. [COSTS.] Meeker county, by a majority vote of its board of commissioners, may enter into a project for the construction of an addition to its presently existing county hospital without submitting the question of the need for the project to a vote by the people. This exemption from Minnesota Statutes, chapter 376, shall apply only if the entire cost of the addition is $435,000 or less and is provided by a depreciation fund already in existence, and does not require the borrowing of funds by the county, through the issuance of bonds or otherwise. Sec. 2. [CONSTRUCTION; LOCATION; EQUIPMENT.] The addition to the current hospital may include construction of buildings physically separate from the present hospital building facility, as well as additions to the present building, if the buildings are on the hospital premises, Block D, Butler's Addition to the city of Litchfield. The cost of the addition to the present hospital facility shall include the cost of materials necessary for its construction and equipment necessary to properly equip it. Sec. 3. [OTHER IMPROVEMENTS.] This act does not effect the ability of the hospital board to approve funds for improvements or remodeling of the present hospital facility under other law. Sec. 4. [MUST COMPLY WITH THE HOSPITAL BED MORATORIUM.] Minnesota Statutes, section 144.551, applies to any project authorized by this act. Nothing in this act authorizes an increase in the licensed capacity of the hospital, or the licensing, relocation, or redistribution of hospital beds, except as allowed under Minnesota Statutes, section 144.551, subdivision 1, paragraph (b). Sec. 5. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This act takes effect the day after the Meeker county board complies with Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021, subdivision 3. It expires December 31, 1996. Presented to the governor April 18, 1991 Signed by the governor April 22, 1991, 3:12 p.m.
