Laws of Minnesota 1988 CHAPTER 439-H.F.No. 1989 An act relating to education; creating a task force on child care in higher education. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: Section 1. [TASK FORCE ON CHILD CARE IN HIGHER EDUCATION.] Subdivision 1. [PURPOSE AND DUTIES.] A task force on child care in higher education is established to determine the goals of child care in higher education in relation to existing child care programs, study and select strategies and mechanisms for the state to use in achieving those goals, and to make recommendations to the legislature for short-term and long-range policy development. Subd. 2. [MEMBERSHIP.] The governor shall appoint the members of the task force. The chair of the student advisory council, and the members of the higher education advisory council may make recommendations for appointment. There must be one student member from each system member of the student advisory council and one faculty or administrator member from each system member of the higher education advisory council. The faculty or administrator representative must be an individual who has had involvement in dealing with child care issues. The members of the task force shall elect the chair. One representative of the department of health, department of human services, and the higher education coordinating board must also be appointed. Subd. 3. [REPORTS.] The task force shall submit a set of recommendations to the higher education division of the senate education committee and the house of representatives higher education committee on its activities, findings, and recommendations by January 15, 1989. Subd. 4. [FUNDING.] The task force may seek funding from nonstate sources to accomplish its tasks under subdivisions 1 to 3. Approved April 4, 1988
