Laws of Minnesota 1985 CHAPTER 126-S.F.No. 207 An act relating to crimes; defining sports bookmaking; amending Minnesota Statutes 1984, sections 299C.065, subdivision 1; and 609.75, subdivision 7. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 1984, section 299C.065, subdivision 1, is amended to read: Subdivision 1. The commissioner of public safety shall make grants to local officials for the cooperative investigation of cross jurisdictional criminal activity relating to the possession and sale of controlled substances, receiving or selling stolen goods, participating in gambling activities in violation of section 609.76, violations of section609.32,subdivision 2 or subdivision 3, clause (3) or (6)609.322, 609.323, or any other state or federal law prohibiting the recruitment, transportation, or use of juveniles for purposes of prostitution. Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 1984, section 609.75, subdivision 7, is amended to read: Subd. 7. [SPORTS BOOKMAKING.] Sports bookmaking is the activity of intentionally receiving, recording or forwardinginany one daywithin any 30-day period more than five bets, or offers to bettotaling, that total more than$1,500$2,500 onthe outcome of an organizedany one or more sportingeventevents. Sec. 3. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] Sections 1 and 2 are effective August 1, 1985, and apply to crimes committed on or after that date. Approved May 17, 1985
