Laws of Minnesota 1983 CHAPTER 69--H.F.No. 277 An act relating to the city of Virginia; authorizing increases in service pensions and survivor benefits for certain retired members and survivors of the Virginia firefighter's relief association. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: Section 1. [VIRGINIA FIREFIGHTERS BENEFITS.] Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, service pensions and survivor benefits payable to retired members and widows of deceased members of the Virginia firefighter's relief association who are receiving pensions or benefits under the law in effect prior to the effective date of Laws 1974, chapter 183, may be increased by $150 per month. An increase authorized by this section may be made retroactively to January 1, 1983. Sec. 2. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] Section 1 is effective upon approval by the Virginia city council and upon compliance with Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021. Approved April 29, 1983
