An informal proceeding is conducted by the judge, the registrar, or the person or persons designated by the judge for probate of a will or appointment of a personal representative. Informal proceedings seek an administrative determination and not a judicial determination and are granted without prior notice and hearing.
Supervised administration is a single, continuous, in rem proceeding commenced by a formal proceeding.
