A bill for an act
proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, article I, section 10;
providing that the right of citizens to be secure from unreasonable searches and
seizures includes protection against unreasonable searches and seizures of electronic
communications and data.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

An amendment to the Minnesota Constitution is proposed to the people. If the amendment
is adopted, article I, section 10, will read:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effectsnew text begin ,
and in their electronic communications and data,new text end against unreasonable searches and seizures
shall not be violated; and no warrant shall issue but upon probable cause, supported by oath
or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched deleted text begin anddeleted text end new text begin ,new text end the person or things

The proposed amendment must be submitted to the people at the 2021 general election.
The question submitted must be:

electronic communications and data from unreasonable searches and seizures as they are
now likewise secure in their persons, homes, papers, and effects?
