relating to workforce development; appropriating money to Project Build Minnesota
to encourage students to consider a career in the construction industry.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

$1,000,000 in fiscal year 2019 is appropriated from the workforce development fund to
the commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to Project Build
Minnesota for a statewide public awareness campaign to encourage middle school and high
school students to consider careers in the construction industry, with a special emphasis on
reaching individuals and groups that are economically disadvantaged or historically
underrepresented in the construction industry. Grant funds must be used to develop
educational resources, including a Web site; perform outreach to students, parents, guidance
counselors, and others about opportunities in the construction industry; and partner with
educational institutions and nonprofits to offer technical training.
