relating to real property; requiring a home inspection for the sale of residential
property; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 513.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

REQUIRED.

Prior to the sale of a residential property, a purchaser must have a home inspection
completed by a current member of the American Society for Home Inspections. The
requirements in this section apply to the transfer of any interest in residential real estate,
whether by sale, exchange, deed, contract for deed, lease with an option to purchase, or any
other option. The inspection must be completed before the final sale.
