1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to the legislature; legislative subpoena; 1.3 providing certain immunity for a witness who responds 1.4 to a legislative subpoena; permitting a legislative 1.5 committee or legislative commission to make certain 1.6 disclosures; amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 1.7 3.153, by adding a subdivision. 1.8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.9 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 3.153, is 1.10 amended by adding a subdivision to read: 1.11 Subd. 6. [IMMUNITY FOR DISCLOSURE; DISCLOSURE BY 1.12 COMMITTEE.] A person who produces relevant records or gives 1.13 relevant testimony in response to a subpoena issued under this 1.14 section is immune from civil or criminal liability or 1.15 occupational disciplinary proceedings that might otherwise 1.16 result from the fact of the disclosure made by the production of 1.17 the records or giving of the testimony. A joint legislative 1.18 commission or standing or interim legislative committee which 1.19 receives testimony or documents pursuant to a subpoena issued 1.20 under this section may disclose the testimony or documents, 1.21 notwithstanding any other statutory provision that restricts 1.22 access to or disclosure of the documents or the substance of the 1.23 testimony.
