1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to education; authorizing advertising on 1.3 school buses; proposing coding for new law in 1.4 Minnesota Statutes, chapter 123. 1.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. [123.807] [ADVERTISING ON SCHOOL BUSES.] 1.7 Subdivision 1. [AUTHORIZATION.] A district may transport 1.8 school children on a school bus that has advertising on the bus, 1.9 if: 1.10 (1) the advertising attached to the school bus does not 1.11 interfere with bus identification under section 169.441; 1.12 (2) the bus with attached advertising meets the school bus 1.13 equipment standards under sections 169.4501 to 169.4504; 1.14 (3) the school district has adopted an advertising policy 1.15 under subdivision 2; and 1.16 (4) the advertising complies with the district's policy. 1.17 Subd. 2. [ADVERTISING POLICY.] Before transporting 1.18 students on a school bus with advertising, a school district 1.19 must adopt an advertising policy with guidelines and advertising 1.20 standards. 1.21 Subd. 3. [ADVERTISING PROCEEDS.] Any proceeds received by 1.22 the district from advertising according to this section must be 1.23 deposited in the transportation fund of the district.
