A bill for an act
relating to state government; creating a task force to study and make
recommendations on the composition of the Iron Range Resources and
Rehabilitation Board; providing appointments.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

(a) A task force is created to study and make recommendations on the composition
of the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board. The task force must be appointed
as follows:

(1) the commissioner of Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation is a member;

(2) the governor must appoint eight members, who are not legislators, and who
reside in the taconite assistance area defined in Minnesota Statutes, section 273.1341;

(3) the speaker of the house of representatives must appoint four members of the
house of representatives, two each from the majority and minority caucuses; and

(4) four senators must be appointed according to the rules of the senate, two each
from the majority and minority caucuses.

The governor must designate one of the members specified in clauses (1) to (4) to
serve as chair.

(b) Legislative members may receive per diem and expense reimbursement from
the house of representatives or the senate as provided in legislative policies. Other
members receive per diem and expense reimbursement from the Iron Range Resources
and Rehabilitation Agency as provided in Minnesota Statutes, section 15.0575.

(c) The task force must report its recommendations to the legislature by January
15, 2007.
