A bill for an act
relating to solid waste; establishing textile waste diversion goal for the state;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 115A.551, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 115A.551, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin It is a goal of this state that the following
percentages of textile waste be diverted from landfills via recycling by the end of the
year indicated:

new text begin (1) 20 percent by 2020;
new text end

new text begin (2) 40 percent by 2025; and
new text end

new text begin (3) 75 percent by 2030.

new text begin For the purposes of this subdivision, "textile waste" means discarded clothing,
shoes, and household textiles.
