A bill for an act
relating to data practices; classifying municipal identification card data as private
data; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 13.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

(a) Municipal identification card data collected or maintained by a municipality relating
to an individual's application for a municipal identification card is private data on individuals.

(b) For purposes of this section, "municipal identification card data" means an applicant's
or cardholder's:

(1) full legal name;
new text end
new text begin
(2) preferred name, if any;
new text end
new text begin
(3) gender;
new text end
new text begin
(4) residential address;
new text end
new text begin
(5) identification photograph; and
new text end
new text begin
(6) any other data collected during the application process for a municipal identification
card.

(c) For purposes of this section, "municipal identification card" means an identification
card issued by a municipality that, at a minimum, displays the cardholder's full legal name
or preferred name, gender identification, date of birth, residential address, photograph, and
the expiration date of the identification card.
