A bill for an act
 relating to state lands; modifying lease terms for tax-forfeited lands in Itasca
County; amending Laws 2007, chapter 57, article 1, section 162.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Laws 2007, chapter 57, article 1, section 162, is amended to read:


Sec. 162. TAX-FORFEITED LANDS LEASE; ITASCA COUNTY.

Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 282.04, or other law to the contrary,
the Itasca County auditor may lease tax-forfeited land deleted text begin to a proposed steel mill in Itasca
Countydeleted text end for a period of deleted text begin 20deleted text end new text begin 40new text end years, for use as a tailings basin and buffer areanew text begin or for use in
the reclamation of legacy iron oxides from tailings basins or tailings stockpilesnew text end . A lease
entered under this section is renewable.
