A bill for an act
relating to insurance; prohibiting automobile insurers from owning repair
facilities; amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 72A.20, by adding a
subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 72A.20, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin No insurer that offers an automobile insurance
policy in this state shall hold or acquire any ownership interest in a business located in
Minnesota that repairs or replaces the nonmechanical exterior or interior body parts of a
damaged motor vehicle. For purposes of this subdivision, "insurer" includes an affiliate of
the insurer as defined in section 72A.491, subdivision 3.
