1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to game and fish; modifying provisions for 1.3 fishing contests; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, 1.4 section 97C.081, subdivision 2. 1.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 97C.081, 1.7 subdivision 2, is amended to read: 1.8 Subd. 2. [CONTESTS WITHOUT A PERMIT.] A person may conduct 1.9 a fishing contest without a permit from the commissioner 1.10 provided: 1.11 (1) the following criteria are met: 1.12 (i) there are3040 participants or less for open water 1.13 contests and 150 participants or less for ice fishing contests; 1.14 (ii) the entry fee is $25 per person or less; 1.15 (iii) the total prize value is $25,000 or less; and 1.16 (iv) the contest is not limited to trout species only; 1.17 (2) the following criteria are met: 1.18 (i) the contest is not limited to specifically named 1.19 waters; and 1.20 (ii) the contest is not limited to trout species only; or 1.21 (3) all the contest participants are age 18 years or under.
