Bill Name: SF2135

Requiring and providing for the commissioner of education to award grants to
partnerships between post-secondary educational institutions and school
districts to expand mathematics and science courses offered in the high school
and to enhance staff development; requiring the courses to be offered at high
school under an agreement between the governing board of the higher education
institution and the school board; regulating the award of the grants,
encouraging post-secondary institutions applying for the grants to apply for
accreditation by the national alliance of concurrent enrollment partnerships;
requiring the commissioner to develop the application process, requiring review,
comment and recommendations on grant applications by the P-16 education
partnership and specifying certain required application criteria; providing aid
to school districts offering the courses; providing for acceptance by higher
education institutions of the credits; appropriating money to the commissioner
for the grants, for the aid and for transfer to the board of regents of the
university of Minnesota and to the board of trustees of the Minnesota state
colleges and universities (MnSCU) for institutions receiving partnership grants
to become provisional members of the national alliance of concurrent enrollment
partnerships
