Enacting the "Uniform Correction or Clarification of Defamation Act";
authorizing and providing for actions for defamation against publications,
broadcasts or oral or electronic communications or transmissions under certain
conditions; providing for requests for correction or clarification; authorizing
persons requested to make corrections or clarifications to request disclosure of
evidence of falsity, restricting recovery for failure to disclose upon request;
providing for the timeliness, sufficiency and effect of corrections or
clarifications and for certain defendant or plaintiff challenges; providing for
publisher offers to correct or clarify after the time limit to correct or
clarify and for acceptance, acceptance to bar further actions; restricting
authorized recoveries, specifying certain duties of the court; prescribing the
scope of protection and providing for the admissibility of evidence of
correction or clarification (rla)
